Installation

Installing GPS fleet tracking management system varies as there are procedures depending on vehicle type and size. Apart from hardware installation, there is also different types of softwares to choose from that should be installed on your computer. One thing is true for sure though; that it is an extremely simple procedure despite the many variations.

The general procedure however involves installing the software on the computer that is to be used to monitor the fleet. Normally, the program can be used on one computer or multiple computers depending on the software license type selected by the company.

In other cases, the fleet can be monitored online through user accounts. Remember that an internet connection is required for this to work.

Setting up of the GPS tracking device which is a hardware is also simple. This device should be placed on the specific vehicle that will be monitored. As each hardware piece varies depending on the fleet, it is important to follow the installation guide that can be found on the package that comes with the hardware.

As this is a tracking device, it is most conveniently placed where it cannot be found immediately. After placing it in the correct position on the vehicle at a hidden spot, ensure that it is secure and will not come off easily or accidentally.

It is important to remember that the hardware requires a power supply. This is a battery unit that enables the device to work when switched on. In some systems, it uses an independent power supply, others will work with the vehicle’s battery. If this is optional in your selected GPS management system, it is recommended to use the vehicle’s battery supply for long journeys.

Once it has been installed on the vehicle it is important to try this out at your current location. To test, ensure that both hardware and software has been switched on. Many softwares today utilize Google maps for tracking. You should be able to find your vehicle, marked on the map. If any difficulties or problems are encountered during installation, go through the manual again to verify that every step has been covered correctly, or contact your service provider.
